People have been studying space for thousands of years. Recently, scientists have made some interesting discoveries about how stars form and die. First, stars are born when gravity pulls dust and gas together into a ball in space. Second, the atoms inside the new star come together. This creates energy and light. That is why stars shine.

After this, the main part of the star’s life begins. Scientists made a formula for counting how long a star will live. It is based on the star’s mass and brightness. Using the formula, scientists were able to guess that the Sun’s life will be about ten billion years long.

Lastly, stars die differently according to their size. Small stars get smaller and smaller. Then, they get cold and turn white. On the other hand, big stars explode. The old parts of a big star will make a new star. If a star is really big, it might become a black hole when it dies. Gravity is very strong in black holes and can pull anything into the hole. Scientists have also discovered that black holes can get bigger like stars.
