In fifth grade, I was having trouble in school. My parents were fighting, so I could not concentrate on my studies. My grades started dropping, especially in history class.
One day, I found a piece of paper in my locker. In pretty handwriting, it said: “Sarah’s Special History Notes.” It was about my history lesson. I had no idea who it came from. Over the next few weeks, I received more special notes. I felt I had a special friend. Using the notes, I began to study harder. In the end, I got an A! I was very pleased to overcome my difficulties and get a great grade.
Several years later, when I was in college, I got a mysterious letter again. In the same pretty handwriting, it said, “I’m very proud of you.” This time, there was a signature at the bottom. It was Ms. Cummings, my fifth-grade teacher. Without her kindness, I do not know where I would be today.
